Compensation divides into two parts: direct and indirect compensation. Direct compensation includes employee wages and salaries, incentives, bonuses, and commission. Performance appraisal is the process by which organizations evaluate employee performance based on preset standards. The main purpose of appraisals is to help managers effectively staff companies and use human resources, and, ultimately, to improve productivi ty. Health care incentives are a form of direct compensation.
